Overview: Me! A Priest? by David K. Spurbeck Sr.

Every Christian is a priest. The very idea that a fallen, depraved human being could become a priest accepted by God in heaven is almost too good to be true. All grace believers become priests the moment they believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. After that, He was seen . . . (1 Cor. 15:3-5)." When they learn that they are priests, their reaction is "Me! A Priest?" No other group of people in history has had the privileges that true Christians do. Aaron, as Israel's high priest, couldn't imagine that anyone could have such superior privileges with God as priests in a kingly, heavenly priesthood.

On the day of Pentecost, the Spirit of God began immersing grace believers into the Body of Christ, the Church which is His Body. That Body is a kingdom of priests. As a result, there are unique provisions for the grace believer. These pages describe:

The Structure of the priesthood is different than any other priesthood for it is a spiritual priesthood after the order of Melchesidec under Jesus Christ the Heavenly High Priest.

The Sacrifices of the believer-priest are spiritual sacrifices offered in the third heaven by spiritual believers.

The Service of the believer-priest is provided by God giving God glory.

The Specialization of the believer-priest is the Christian's spiritual gift. This is a God-given specialty in the Body of Christ above normal Christian activities. Each believer has a single spiritual gift.

The Sharing of the believer-priest affects his relationship to his Bible, his God, his communication with God, his job, his family and his church. Helps for implementation are discussed.

The Church doesn't have a priesthood. It is a priesthood!

The Christian "In Christ"

An Introduction to "In Christ" Truth

  by David K. Spurbeck Sr.

Book Reviews:

"This book gives an exhaustive list of results of the grace believer's position in Christ. Unique to this book is also a list of the believer's possessions which he has because he is "in Christ." The book has many good Scriptural references to study as a basis for Christian growth. Because of the riches of the saint's possessions, God meets the needs of the believer. Thus, putting these truths into practice is necessary for Christian growth. The believer's position in Christ is simply God the Father's estimate of the individual believer - because the Father sees the believer seated at His right hand in Christ (Ephesians 2:6). "My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)"  -- H. LaVern Schafer, Th.D., Director, Dispensational Theological Seminary

"The Christian "In Christ" is a book that has helped me immensely to focus my mind and thoughts on my position and possessions in Christ. It has been my deep desire to grow spiritually since becoming a grace believer. This book is unique in that it helped me study systematically the "in Christ" truth in the Bible. "In Christ" truth is the basis of spiritual growth. I would highly recommend this book to the serious Christian who wants to mature in his faith."  -- O. William Blake, Ed.D.

"I believe The Christian "In Christ" is one of the best books written on the subject of a believer's position and the possessions he has in Christ. It's a must read for pastors, missionaries, and all who truly desire to grow spiritually. You will be richly encouraged and your faith will be strengthened. There are very few books of this quality on the market and I highly recommend it."  -- Richard Truman

Overview: The Christian "In Christ" by David K. Spurbeck Sr.:

What do people think when they read or hear the words "in Christ?" Is it just another way of saying "Christian?" The Bible uses these words in a technical sense for the Christian's location in the Body of Christ. A person is placed "In Christ" by the baptizing work of the Holy Spirit. This takes place the moment that a person believes the Gospel with a God-given faith. The Gospel is "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again according to the scriptures. After that, He was seen...(1 Cor. 15:3-5)." The Holy Spirit immerses the believing one into the Church which is Christ's Body.

How does a person become a part of the Body of Christ? A human being has no capability on his own to gain admission. A Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, must put him into Christ.

What are the results of being placed in Christ? The new believer is given a position and possessions in Christ. These pages survey the teaching of the Bible concerning the benefits provided for the believer in Christ.

How does being in Christ affect relationships with other believers and with Christ, the Head of the Body? These pages survey the Bible teaching of common benefits shared together with other Christians and Christ Himself.

The subject is developed on the basis of three Greek prepositions. "Into" describes a change from one's old location into a new location. "In" describes the location and the benefits. "Together" describes participation with others in Christ and with Christ, the Head of the Body.

These truths are practical -- divinely practical for the true Christian. They are the basis for all spiritual growth.
